About Dawn Essegian Lajeunesse

I, like so many others, am a novelist struggling for recognition. My last three novels, THE EYES HAVE IT, IN HER MOTHER'S SHOES and STAR CATCHING, are available in e-book format through Amazon and other formats by request here or on my website. AUTUMN COLORS was my first novel and is still available through Amazon and B&N in multiple formats. My early writings are women's fiction, one also suitable for YA. My work-in-progress is a historical fiction about the Armenians who settled in Troy, NY in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Come visit me at my website: www.dawnlajeunesse.com.

EASING INTO THE STORY VS BOUNDING OUT OF THE GATE

Writing classes and journal articles and agent/editor webinars these days emphasize the importance of making a huge splash on the first page – even the first paragraph, the first sentence – for any novel to be successful. That approach, perhaps, derives from … Continue reading

INERTIA – WRITER’S FRIEND OR FOE?

Travel back to high school physics. Can you recall the definition of inertia? A body in motion tends to stay in motion and a body at rest tends to stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force. You … Continue reading

SLOW AND TOUGH RE-ENTRY

The wayward author has resurfaced! This is by far my longest gap between postings, and mea culpa doesn’t cut it. I have lots of reasons that I consider valid, but when I am totally honest I can also admit that … Continue reading
